About

The Bedford & District Gardener’s Association was founded more than fifty years ago by a group of enthusiastic allotment holders and gardeners for the purpose of organising a local flower show, which was held for 48 years, and the bulk-buying of gardening supplies for the mutual benefit of the members. To this end, we are here to serve all local gardeners (even if you are limited to a couple of hanging baskets and a window box!) not just with essential supplies but with all sorts of advice if required.

Our two branches hold a wide range of products from garden canes, a comprehensive stock of fertilisers, composts, lawn treatments, seeds, pots and sundries, selected very much with quality in mind; many of which are sold at almost two-thirds of the price found in the garden centres. So why not come along and take advantage of your community suppliers. Anyone interested in becoming a member should simply come along during our opening hours and sign-up on the spot. The annual membership is only £1, or 50p for the over-60s, an amount easily saved with your first purchases! More than that, you could become an allotment holder at any of the sites around Bedford. If you are interested, than you should apply to the Borough Council.

We are always looking to attract a few more helpers, men women, to help in the huts during trading hours.  The normal commitment for such a helper would only be about two hours a month, if you are interested please leave your details at your local branch, so that they can be passed on to the branch secretary.

Our branches are at the following sites:

Brickhill Drive Allotments and Newnham Avenue Allotments

Opening times are:

Saturdays from 2.00pm – 4.00pm

Sundays from 10.00am – Noon

Wednesdays from 2.00 – 4.00pm (Newnham Avenue not all year)
